These slow cooker black-eyed peas with ham and bacon are spiced up with jalapeño pepper and cumin for a delicious side dish. Perfect for potluck dinners and barbecues!

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 1 pound dried black-eyed peas sorted and rinsed
  • 8 ounces diced ham
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 red bell pepper stemmed, seeded, and diced
  • 1 jalapeño chile seeded and minced
  • 2 cloves garlic diced
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Gather all ingredients.
  • Pour water into a slow cooker; add bouillon cube and stir to dissolve.
  • Stir in black-eyed peas, ham, bacon, onion, bell pepper, jalapeño, garlic, cumin, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  • Cover and cook on Low until beans are tender, 6 to 8 hours.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
