Applesauce
This easy, quick applesauce is a family favorite! I often double the recipe and can or freeze it so we always have some on hand.
Ingredients
- 6 cups peeled cored, and chopped apples
- ¾ cup water
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ cup white sugar
Instructions
- Combine apples, water, cinnamon, and cloves in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until apples are tender, about 10 minutes. Stir in sugar and continue simmering for 5 minutes more.
- Allow the applesauce to cool, then transfer to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Notes
Cook’s Note
I like to use a mix of tart and sweet apples, such as Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.
Mash apples with a potato masher for chunky applesauce or use an immersion blender for a smoother texture.
